Sheet piling for the redevelopment of Preston Barracks in Brighton
Aarsleff Ground Engineering were awarded the contract by Edburton Contractors Ltd to install a 34lin/m sheet piled retaining wall at Preston Barracks, a previous military base which is being developed as part of a regeneration programme in Brighton.
The site, which has laid derelict for more than two decades, will be used to build 369 homes, along with student accommodation building and a 50,000sq ft hub for commercial and retail outlets.
Specifically, Aarsleff installed 54 No. AZ26 sheet piles to a depth of 9 metres utilising an ABI high frequency vibratory rig. The retaining wall will prevent the ground from collapsing and provide a clear space for construction.
Aarsleff commenced works on the 4th September and had completed on site within the 1.5-week programme.
