Our Data

We carried out our first footprint exercise in 2022, looking back at our financial year 2020-21. Every year since then, we’ve produced a robust sustainability report, based on the principles outlined in the Global Reporting Index methodology. Our emissions footprint covers all three scopes, with seven scope 3 categories covered, including Purchased Goods and Services, and is calculated in line with ISO 14064 and the Greenhouse Gas Protocol. We know how important robust systems are to achieving sustainability accreditations for your projects, which is why we’re proud to be able to offer a third party verified EPD for our precast concrete piles, produced and manufactured by Centrum Pile. We also embed rigorous data validation processes and are delighted to be verified to ISO 14064-1 as a part of Achilles’ Carbon Reduce programme.

Our 2030 Goals

As we move out of the first half of the decade, we are aware of the need to understand where our strategy takes us to the next legislative period, with new emissions targets set into the 2030s and a deeper understanding of the meaning of sustainability on a global scale. As such, Per Aarsleff A/S has defined six core themes for the Aarsleff Group to work within, ensuring that our focus covers as broad a range of issues as possible, and we work within these as a governance pillar.

Emissions:

  • Scope 1 & 2 emissions down 60% from 2021 baseline by 2030
  • Carbon reduction plan for cement & steel following R&D by 2030
  • UK sourced cement & EAF only newly procured steel by 2030
  • Centrum: all factory plant to diesel alternatives by 2030

Circular Economy:

  • Waste reduction of 40% against 2024 baseline by 2030

Biodiversity:

  • Improved biodiversity across Centrum and office sites by 2030

Own Workforce:

  • 10% of staff engaged in apprenticeships or internal supervisor and management training plans by 2030 – based off succession and progression planning

Value Chain:

  • Work primarily with suppliers who meet our Tier 1 requirements by 2030

Business Conduct:

  • Accurate and verified emissions reporting year on year with full ISSB requirements fulfilled in each report from 2027

Our Approach

We aim to take a fully holistic approach to sustainability, working to embed sustainable thinking into everything we do. Our Footprint Reduction Roadmap focuses on six key areas to help us maintain focus. These are:

  • Procurement
  • Emissions
  • Energy Efficiency
  • Fleet
  • Circular Resource Economy
  • Biodiversity

We use these, and the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals, in order to better map our efforts, ensuring we maintain focus in areas which may not immediately present themselves. By working holistically with sustainability across the entire organisation, we know that progression becomes more tangible.
