Aarsleff Ground Engineering was awarded the soil nail contract for a retaining wall adjacent to a care home in Leicester, that was in danger of collapse.
A soil nailing option was chosen by Aarsleff as being the most cost effective solution. The wall was being held in place by temporary timber baulks propped against the care home. Aarsleff installed 60 permanent soil nails and then repointed and repaired areas of collapse. Finally, the voids behind the wall were grouted up. Soil nails were installed using our Mini Drill mast attached to a 13 tonne excavator reaching over the timber baulks, which were removed as the soil nails were being installed. Permanent caps were then fitted over the soil nails to ensure that they would be safe from damage.
The contract was delivered on time and within budget.Download Case Study
