Carmarthen, West Wales

Aarsleff Ground Engineering was contracted to install 2,910 lineal meters of R32 Hollow Bar soil nails to support a failing timber crib wall at a commercial retail site in Carmarthen, West Wales. The project also involved finishing the stabilised wall with a150mm thick gabion mattress, enhancing both its structural integrity and visual appearance.

Despite initial logistical challenges stemming from working within a live car park, Aarsleff’s expertise in installation and operational efficiency ensured the successful delivery of the project. Working on a site with multiple stakeholders and significant public interaction required high levels of management and problem-solving, particularly in maintaining safety and minimising disruptions. Through a combination of technical knowledge, precise execution, and a proactive approach to logistical constraints, Aarsleff completed the works within the contract period. The result was a structurally sound and aesthetically pleasing retaining solution that met the client’s expectations.
