Triton Knoll Offshore Windfarm, Lincolnshire

Our Role: CFA Piling Contractor
Location: Boston, Lincolnshire, UK

In August 2019, Aarsleff completed CFA piling for a new substation as part of the Triton Knoll Offshore windfarm project in Bicker Fen, Boston. The new substation, which is connected to the windfarm via 40 miles of underground cable to the Lincolnshire coast, will convert the generated electricity from the windfarm for the National Grid.

Our team installed 8no. 600mm diameter CFA piles of 15m lengths for the gas main bridge, which were placed on either side of it. CFA piles were specified due to the minimal vibrations it created as the piles were being installed. Once completed, the windfarm was capable of providing clean and sustainable energy to over 800,000 UK homes.

Newark Sewer and Water System Upgrade, Nottinghamshire

Our Role: CFA Piling Contractor
Location: Newark, Nottinghamshire, UK

Aarsleff completed CFA and Sheet piling works in May 2017 for a major scheme that would protect homes in Newark from sewer flooding and provide a reliable water supply for decades to come.

Our team worked on Queens Road to facilitate the replacement of a tunnel with a 1.5 metre diameter one. We employed an ABI TM13 /16SL with a Hydropress to pre-auger, and further installed 28no PU22- 12m long sheet piles. Due to being in a residential and restricted area, we employed a Silent Hydropress to drive in the sheet piles to reduce the vibration.

Sunderland Strategic Transport Corridor, Tyne and Wear

Our Role: CFA Piling Contractor
Location: Sunderland, Tyne and Wear, UK

In July 2019, Aarsleff was appointed to deliver a geotechnical works package as part of the Sunderland Strategic Transport Corridor project on behalf of Client Sunderland City Council to to create space for the highway between the Pallion Shipyard and the upper existing highway and Tyne & Wear metro line.

It consisted of an 85m of contiguous bored pile retaining wall, 65lm retaining wall founded on CFA piles, a 250m long x 12m high soil nail wall and a large king post retaining wall encapsulating the existing 10m high retained wall pinned with ground anchors.
