Projects Description

SCOPE OF WORKS: 390 drilling and grouting positions

CLIENT: Placefirst

CONTRACT: Design and build

CONSTRUCTION PERIOD: 8 weeks

Aarsleff were working for Placefirst. The project wason a housing development in the West of Durham. The site is located on an extensively worked coal seam where Aarselff used their multi-discipline skills to overcome and efficiently carry out this work. Aarsleff’s work took place over 8 weeks with around 390 drilling and grouting positions

One of the main challenges the team faced on site was its location on top of an extensively worked coal seam. Ground stabilisation is often a required technique in the North East where coal mining traditionally formed the main industry in the area. Before any foundations can be laid for the housing development Beal Homes are establishing, Aarsleff were contracted to perform drilling and grouting at 390 positions across the site in order to stablise the ground to support further development. This site in particular had been extensively worked so extra attention was needed to ensure that the correct amount of positions were drilled and Aarsleff’s extensive experience working in the North East, coupled with our experienced design team’s tailor made solution, ensured that the solution installed was one our client could trust.
