AarGroup – Poland Quay Expansion

For our latest AarGroup project, we head over to the Port of Świnoujście in Poland where our sister company Aarsleff SP. z o.o. recently finished the ground engineering works for the quay’s expansion. The sea town of Świnoujście is located near the border of Germany at the Baltic Sea and has both passenger and cargo terminals, with 15.3% of all Poland’s seaport cargo traffic passing through.

Having previously been the specialist ground engineering contractor for the construction of one of the quays in 2014, Aarsleff were contracted again to join two existing quays together, allowing for larger vessels to moor at the port.

Working offshore, precast concrete piles and steel sheet piles were installed to create the quay walls and foundations. Aarsleff worked closely with its key partners to implement sustainable construction methods, such as delivering materials via the water and completed the job in a timely and accurate manner.
