Newark Marina, Nottinghamshire

Our Role: Sheet Piling Contractor
Location: Newark-on-Trent, Nottinghamshire, UK

From 28th May 2019 to 15th May 2020, Aarsleff installed steel sheet piled walls to create a new area of water for boats to enter and moor in the marina. A Movax vibrator hammer and Crane suspended air hammer were used in the installation of the piles. Once installed, the ground was excavated to the required level and water was pumped into the new area of the marina.

Bell Farm, Bedfordshire

Our Role: Sheet Piling Contractor
Location: Bedford, Bedfordshire, UK

From 19th October 2020 to 23rd November 2020, Aarsleff installed 329.4l/m of driven steel sheet piles. Aarsleff employed pre-boring of the pile positions to loosen the surrounding ground to ensure the design toe depth was achieved and to gather observations pertaining to ground conditions. Aarsleff deployed 5 machines to ensure the piling programme was met without any delays using a Hitachi excavator to offload the steel sheet sections, their Soiltek drilling rig to conduct pre-boring, a Sennebogen crane to handle and pitch the piles and a leader rig to install and back install the steel sheet sections using driving vibratory hammer.

Port One, Ipswich

Location: Great Blakenham, Ipswich, UK

From July to September 2021, Aarsleff conducted a sizeable multi-discipline project on behalf of client Team AB who have been appointed as the main contractor in building a new logistics park. Our current scope of work contains of a contiguous wall between units 3 and 4 to enable a 8 meter retained height, and a soil nail supported sheet piled wall to retain the adjacent highway up to 10 meter high. 202No. sheet piles were installed by our specialist retaining wall team. The project has been completed on time and in budget.

Solent University, Hampshire

Our Role: Sheet Piling Contractor
Location: Southampton, Hampshire, UK

From 17th October to 2nd November 2017, Aarsleff were contracted by Morgan Sindall Construction to facilitate a brand new sports building on campus. Aarsleff installed 76No 700mm Arcelor steel sheet piles of12.5m length and 1 No. single box pile of 15m length to form the cantilever retaining wall, designed by Arup Design. Aarsleff supplied, handled, pitched and drove the sheet piles with vibratory installation techniques complete with pre-augering as required. The project was completed well ahead of time, concluding 2 days before original target date.

A17 Embankment, Lincolnshire

Our Role: Sheet Piling Contractor
Location: Sleaford, Lincolnshire, UK

Lincolnshire County Council recently commenced work on its £2.4M valued A17 Sleaford Bypass Embankment Repairs Scheme, part of which involves a complex section of slope stabilisation as the dual carriageway crosses over both the London and North Eastern Railway and East Midlands Trains’ Peterborough-Lincoln Line. The scheme has involved a series of sheet piling which has seen the geotechnical subcontract awarded to Aarsleff, who worked on the embankment opposite the A153 overbridge and the railway bridge to install 413 No. steel sheet piles using their Movax rig to form a retaining a wall.

Residential Structure, Greater Manchester

Our Role: Sheet Piling Contractor
Location: Stockport, Greater Manchester, UK

From June to July 2023, Aarsleff were contracted to install 143m of sheet piling for a new residential structure. It was initially proposed that the sheets be driven using a Movax attachment to an excavator, which is effective in soils of low to medium strength. To ensure the most efficient delivery, it was identified that designed pile toe level must be above this 7.9m level, which our design engineers achieved through an effective and economic design.
