Piling Solutions

With a comprehensive suite of piling solutions, we support the structural needs of diverse leisure complex projects. Our in-house design team works alongside clients to deliver technically robust and commercially viable foundation solutions, even on sites with limited access, low headroom, or environmental sensitivities.

We regularly install:

We often identify opportunities to optimise pile layouts or reduce materials, lowering project costs without compromising structural integrity.

Leisure complex retaining walls often need to serve both structural and aesthetic purposes. Whether you’re supporting split-level architectural designs or navigating challenging topography, our retaining wall systems are tailored to the functional and visual requirements of each project.

We work closely with clients to develop safe, durable structures, such as:

Our retaining walls are installed by our impressive fleet of machinery and equipment, including excavators and vibrators. We also have access to Europe’s largest fleet of piling rigs and ground engineering machinery.

Ground Engineering Techniques

Our leisure complex ground engineering services are designed to unlock even the most constrained or geotechnically difficult sites. We undertake extensive site investigations, soil analysis, and design modelling to tailor our approach to each project’s specific needs. Through collaboration with structural engineers, we ensure our foundation solutions support long-term performance and safety.

We specialise in a wide range of ground engineering techniques, including:

We focus on minimising environmental impact while maximising ground stability, which are critical factors in securing planning permissions and meeting sustainability targets.

Mill House Leisure Centre

hartlepool leisure complex work

Location: Hartlepool, Durham, UK

Hartlepool’s Mill House Leisure Centre had been in operation since 1972, and the local council had recognised in recent years that it no longer possessed the capacity to support the town’s growing population. As a result, it was decided that funding would be allocated to create a new, purpose-built leisure centre at the Waterfront, with Wates Construction selected as the main contractor for the scheme.

The groundworks package comprised enabling works and foundations, including sheet piling and driven precast concrete piling. Aarsleff was appointed to deliver both aspects, with our team on site from February to April 2024. In total, 133 sheet piles were installed to form a cantilever cofferdam, and 476 driven precast concrete piles were installed to support the building’s foundation.
