‘Photo of the Week’ 📸 | King Post Wall Construction
Thanks to our Operations Manager James Wilson for this week’s photo. Aarsleff were on site with their SF50 CFA rig for three weeks in April, installing a 80l/m king post wall comprising 30 No. steel H-section posts, for a maximum 3.3m retained height.
The project, awarded by Willmott Dixon, will see a new £9m two-storey Construction Centre built where students can learn the building and trade skills of the future. The new facility in Oldham will see the number of construction students at the college increase by 70%, with apprenticeships in construction also expanding by an extra 200 places per year. The king post wall was required to facilitate a new teaching block and car park.
Aarsleff’s Director for Specialist Retaining Walls division John Storry said:
“The joint cooperation & determination by AGE & WD to deliver this project within Covid-19 guidance was a credit to both companies & operations personnel in particular”.
We also heard from Jamie Beard, Senior Building Manager at Willmott Dixon, who added:
“Your king post team did a fantastic job on this project”.
