‘AarGroup’ – Project highlight of the Month 🌍
This month’s project highlight features some of the deepest piles within the Nordic countries. Aarsleff Grundläggning AB in Sweden and Per Aarsleff A/S in Denmark were contracted in 2015 for the design and consulting of the foundations for a new skyscraper in Gothenburg, Sweden.
The Karlatornet Tower will be the tallest building within the Nordic countries once completed, standing at 245m high. Utilising the groups ‘One Company’ collaboration approach, Aarsleff were able to establish a design for the foundations and were further awarded the contract for the pile construction.
A total of 57no. piles of 2000mm diameter were constructed for the new skyscraper, with the deepest pile reaching 75.12m. The biggest challenge for Aarsleff was the Gothenburg ground conditions, but with the collaboration between both companies, they were able to overcome the challenge of constructing 55-75m piles in the Gothenburg clay.
