This week we welcomed 2 new starters into the company – Callum Turner and Conor Wareham. Callum is one of our undergraduate placement students currently working in Plant and Conor is a Site Support Coordinator for our Ground Beams division.
We chatted to them both on their first day:
Hi Callum, Hi Conor. Let’s start off by giving everyone a bit of background
Callum: Hi. I’m from the South of Leicestershire in a small village near Lutterworth. Before coming to work at Aarsleff I have been studying for two years towards my degree in Mechanical Engineering and as a part-time job, I sold eggs and potatoes!
Conor: I’m originally from Gainsborough and I recently graduated from Nottingham Trent University with a 2:1 in construction management. During University I completed a placement year with Keepmoat Regeneration which was extended to 2 day’s a week, during my final year of Uni.
Is there anything, in particular, you’re looking forward to working on?
Callum: I’m looking forward to applying some of my engineering knowledge that I have learned during my time at University and seeing the results of my labour being applied in the field.
Conor: Mostly looking forward to expanding my knowledge in piling and ground engineering as well as developing my skills and eventually becoming a contracts manager with greater responsibility.
What has been your proudest moment at work and/or at school?
Conor: The biggest achievement for me was being awarded a gold star for outstanding performance in health and safety – it was also published in the Keepmoat monthly bulletin!
Callum: For me, I found out just a few days ago that I received a 1st class in my second year at university.
Thank you both.
