Aarsleff Ground Engineering had a great evening on Friday 21st June at the Newark Business Awards 2019 where our Design Manager Ash Rogers took home the trophy for ‘Employee of the Year’, along with Aarsleff receiving two other highly commended awards in the ‘Large Business of the Year’ and ‘Employer of the Year’ categories. Success!
Employee of the Year
Picking up the Award for Employee of the Year, Ash Rogers has shown commitment in going the extra mile and continually exceeding expectations within the company. Ash has demonstrated a continual desire to be challenged, often saying that if the design of a scheme seems simple then a component of the project has probably been overlooked.
Over the past 12-months, Ash and his team have proven themselves able to design technically challenging projects completely in house, comprising of various piling types, sheet piling, propping and temporary works, ground anchors, soil nailing and drilling and grouting. Ash has played a pivotal role in changing the internal culture surrounding design within the company, hosting regular training sessions for his colleagues to ensure they each have a comfortable awareness of design, technical processes and the requirements of their projects allowing them to control risks, seize opportunities and ultimately deliver a high standard performance to their valued clients.
On the evening of the Awards, Ash also received his final grade in his university degree, achieving a Merit in Master of Science (Msc) in Geotechnical Engineering. Aarsleff Ground Engineering are proud to have supported Ash throughout his course, and we congratulate him again on his great success. Check out Ash’s interview showed on the awards evening below:
We are also proud to be highly commended in the both the ‘Large Business of the Year’ and ‘Employer of the Year’ categories in the Newark Business Awards.
Both these awards are testament to Aarsleff’s core values and are proof that the company’s management team are committed to creating a positive and refreshingly open workplace for their well-motivated and well-trained teams to thrive in.
Aarsleff’s Managing Director Kevin Hague has led the business forward as one, embarking on a mission to drive a collaborative and transparent mentality throughout the organisation, backed up by continual access to company ‘big data’. Kevin has implemented regular forums, otherwise known as ‘Staff Chats’, where everyone in the business gathers together in the company briefing room and discusses the status of the business completely transparently. With the current skills shortage in the construction market, and particularly the geotechnical sector, finding and training new talent has become more important than ever. Aarsleff Ground Engineering play an active part in changing the perception of the civil engineering industry with its investment in Virtual Reality and most recently the launch of its new application – ‘Experience Ground Engineering in Virtual Reality’. Aarsleff are proactively challenging the notion that “young people are not interested in construction” and will soon be rolling out the company’s own bespoke ground engineering virtual application at careers fairs and university shows.
It has been a great honour to have been successful at the Newark Business Awards, and it also demonstrates that we are recognised and supported in our local business community. At Aarsleff Ground Engineering we appreciate the hard work of our staff, and what better way to celebrate this than with two highly commended awards and one winner’s trophy!
