Sheet piling at Sussex University has been installed to facilitate new student accommodation. Aarsleff Ground Engineering has completed the sheet piling to facilitate the construction of new high-quality student accommodation for Sussex University within the beautiful natural setting of the South Downs National Park. On behalf of Adenstar Developments Ltd, for the main client Balfour Beatty and the University of Sussex.
Aarsleff installed two sheet piled retaining walls consisting of 125 no. AZ18 sheets 700mm wide, and 4.5-8m in length with its ABI TM14 Leader Rig. The new buildings will replace the existing East Slope student accommodation and will provide bedrooms for 2,117 students together with new student amenities and a Student’s Union building. Work on the site will be carried out by a phased approach and is expected to begin in January 2017. The first phase will be ready around September 2018, with all work completed in 2020.Download Case Study
